On Sunday, I joined the Distinguished Kiwanian Gentlemen from EKPR at their signature project: treat at Port Royal Primary School. The men turned out in numbers, and the children enjoyed festivities as well as the back to school goodies. Congratulations, President Paul and team. Job well done.
Here's a love story: at our One Day Project, Pres. Daneal from the Kiwanis Club of Meadowvale fell head over heels in love with the children from Reddies Place of Safety. The club is now on the road to adopting Reddies. Today, I joined them as they handed over a TV, toys, then played games and fed the kids. Not to be left out, the "Mothers" of the home were also gifted. Congratulations on a great project. I especially love the moving banner... watch!
Yesterday , Young Pioneers partnered with scientists from the Scientific Research Council to bring science to life at the Edward seaga (formerly Denham Town) Primary. Cool experiments had the children buzzing with excitement. The principal was so impressed that she asked for a training program for the teachers. Congratulations YPJO
I braved the early morning traffic today to join the Kiwanis Club of Liguanea at the handover of their Playground to Whitfield Town Primary and Infant. Kids loved it. Congratulations, KCOL, on successfully delivering this under IPLG Carolyn's Major Project. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
230 Kids Benefits from Kiwanis and Project One Goal Partnership
KINGSTON, January 06, 2024:
Two hundred and Thirty children from Portsmouth and neighboring communities in Portmore St. Catherine benefited from a four-day camp aimed at building technical skills while emphasizing health and fitness.
The camp started on Wednesday, January 3 at the Portsmouth Primary School, forms part of the mission of the Kiwanis Club of CyberConnect Jamaica and Project One Goal to transform the lives of our children. “Every year since 2017 we have been hosting football camps across Jamaica. Working with youths and playing football are both my passions and I would never change them. I’ve enjoyed this year event, seeing the coaches interact with the kids and teaching them simple fundamentals of the game -- and just being able to see them happy” as explained by Project One Goal President/Founder Dean Lothian.Â
The camp involved children from ages 5 to 17 and were led by experienced local and overseas coaches. The technical sessions included dribbling, passing, shooting and the tactics of the game. The children were encouraged to have fun while learning the guidelines of the game. This year we are delighted to present footballs, cleats and other football gear to the children participating in the camp.
Project organizer, President Stacyann Sucklal, was extremely happy with the success of the project. “The preparation with Project One Goal began as early as October last year. We arranged for the equipment and the gears to be shipped to Jamaica and ensured they were available for the camp. We love serving together with other organizations who share our vision to change children’s lives in a positive way. Sucklal said.
At the closing ceremony, the children were incredibly happy given the chance to play, learn and have fun. “This is what Kiwanis is all about: partnerships that improve the lives of children. I am really pleased that the Kiwanis Club of Cyberconnect was able to play such a key role in this project. Mr. Lothian is awesome and inspirational. I could see a sparkle in the eyes of the children when he spoke to them. Perhaps we will see a few Reggae Boyz come out of this programme!,” Lieutenant Governor Division 23E Stephan Rampair said. He hoped the campers might see themselves in the Jamaica football team in the future.”

December 25 has become a special day for members of Kiwanis Clubs in the Kingston and St Andrew area as well as their youth leadership groups.
It is the day when they trek to Victoria Jubilee Maternity Hospital in downtown Kingston under a project called Baby Love which brings a bit of Christmas cheer to new mothers during the Yuletide season.
Last year they were at it again, and lieutenant governor for Kiwanis Division 23 East Stephan Rampair was elated.
“Every year on Christmas [Day], for two hours in the morning, we come to Jubilee Hospital to bring some joy. This year we are delighted to present 55 care baskets to the new families. I say families because we have quite a few fathers who are here and who have joined in the celebration, and I am happy they are a part of the celebration,” a Kiwanis news release quotes Rampair.
Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton, himself a member of the Kiwanis Club of Stony Hill, joined the Kiwanians and addressed the gathering of about 60 Kiwanis members, while another 30 joined in via a Zoom broadcast from the lobby of the hospital.
Dr Tufton presented a special care basket to the first mother who gave birth on Christmas morning.
The group was also joined by representatives of their high school youth group Key Club, Christopher Humber, district administration; Amair Myrie, district secretary/treasurer; and Aidan Rampair, member, who played several well-known Christmas carols on the violin for the mothers on the ward.
Lieutenant Governor Rampair also presented Dr Tufton with a special award — the Godfrey Dyer Medallion — for his leadership of the Ministry of Health and Wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that Jamaica’s death toll was among the lowest in the region
The Kiwanis Club of Cyber Connect continued their signature project and lit up the (4) Christmas tree(s) at Bustamante Children’s Hospital. The St. Hugh's Girls Choir was on hand to sing to a small audience, including the Hospitals CEO, and then to serenade the patients and parents at the entrance to accident and emergency area. A beautiful gesture. The CEO was so pleased that he is arranging for the choir to do Caroling on the wards! Congrats, President Stacy, supported by Grampa/IPP Mark, DP Adrian, and the crew.
Signature Project!! On December 2 I went to Trench Town to where Trailblazers had their Signature project. They held an amazing treat for the Kids of trench town. The project had all the great elements: Food, music, children, partnership branding. Wow. Check out these photos. The kids had a wonderful time. Kudos to the team for this very successful project.
The Service was held at the Church of the Ascension in Mona. Miss Juds rolled out the red carpet for KCSSA and 23EPSA Â
Both presidents had good delegations, and I (finally!) met the famous Henroy who is responsible for our devotions on Fridays.Â
ESA 29th Anniversary Church Service
Today is the 1st Sunday of Advent, the churches upped the ante a little. The Gordon Town Methodist church also installed their men's fellowship.Â
Thanks to Miss G for sustaining the Kiwanians with sweets. I never valued a sweetie so much yet!
On October 29, a team of 167 K-Family members participated in the ICWI Pink Run - a fun run for the cause of breat cancer. After much preparation and excitement, we came to race day with great anticipation. The day did not dissappoint!. The early morning sea of pink was amazing. The run started at 6:30am and from there the brisk walk through the hope gardens and hope pasture scenery was quite relaxing. Various groups visited the booth at different times for some water, fruit or just a photo. We had a great time.

On Saturday, October 28, 2023 Kiwanians from all 20 clubs in Division 23 East descended on Hope Gardens for a special day of fun for 53 children, and 9 caregivers, from 3 Children's Homes . The day started with activities at Funland Amusement Center where the kids enjoyed themselves on the bumper cars, merry-go-round bounceabout and other rides. Next, we all went over to the shell bandstand area for an afternoon of games, dance competitions, food and other entertainment. All the time we felt protected by the amublance services and the security services for the event.
A BIG thank you to our One Day Chair IPP Kerin from Eastern St. Andrew who guided the team to carry out this successful One Day project.
