Governor's Visit

Summary of Events

The Governor will visit Division 23E February 3 – 6, 2024

 The Governor and his Spouse will arrive officially in Division 23E on Saturday evening February 3, 2024 for a three Day Visit.  The activities below will need your support. We are encouraging. Members to plan to come out and spend some time with us at these events.

• DAY 0 – Saturday  February 3, 2024 (IPLG Carolyn Leading)

• DAY  1 – Sunday, February 4, 2024

• 10:am Divisional Council Meeting– UCC All Delegates need to be seated by 9:45 and all Observers by 9:55 for a 10:00am start -  Cost: $1500 including lunch and 50/50

We have a packed DCM agenda which includes elections, so we will forego most of the committee reports. Instead, we will focus on the president’s report, (DP Vernon will email the link) in summary like our last meeting, conventions, and reporting on our Baby Love Project. We will also send out forms for our interclubbing awards for presentation.

We will have a paid zoom available for $750, but we are encouraging members to be in person. We are also encouraging online persons to pay ahead of the date so we can authorize a smooth entry into the meeting, rather that a scramble to very persons on the morning.

Chair Lorraine will call a separate DCM Planning meeting to run through the agenda and host club logistics.

• 4:00pm – 5:00pm   Ice Cream in the Park  - KCDTK Park Visit to distribute ice-cream to the kids.

This is a very short project. Come and be a part of the group as we give the kids of Rae Town an evening treat of cream, sandwiches and give out some back to school supplies..

6:30pm  Dinner for Governor with PLGs and Family

We are inviting all Past Lieutenant Governors to join the governor for dinner. Everyone will pay for their meal.

• DAY 2 – Monday, February 5, 2024

10am to 3:30pm Project Visits.  -  We need clubs to submit project proposal so we can confirm the project visit agenda.

Possible Projects so far :

-       Denham Town Hight School Visit

-       Open Kiwanis Club of Tafalgar Park at Half way tree Primary School t

-       JFB Action Club Project

Lunch stop to be confirmed.

• Arrive at Pegasus at 4pm:

• Tentative: 5:30 pm Pegasus - Convention Promotion - Press Conference (Confirm with Chair Sheila)

• 7pm DTK meeting /Joint with St. Andrew

 Venue  Tentative Jade Garden

Cost: 4,500 per person includes dinner.

• DAY 3 – Tues, February 6, 2024

• 9:00 am start Discipline and Courtesy Launch

 This will feature all Kiwanis Clubs in Jamaica. 

Dr. Micheal Abraham is the guest presenter

There will be a large media presence. 

• 2:30 Key Club Visit – Immaculate High School – Debate – Calabar vs Immaculate

•7:00pm: Mass Induction – Tentative Venue: Police Officers Club.
